Web Applications and Multimedia

Basic Concepts Taught

Interface Principles
Computer Proficiency has everything to do with using program interfaces. The basis of learning any software requires, first and foremost, understanding the interface or GUI of programs. One does not learn to drive a car without first knowing how read the dashboard, using the brake and pedals, and the sticks.

Students in Computer I will learn to create web interfaces creating buttons, links, and menus in a logical way so that internet users can instinctively browse. Learning how to create web interfaces will help students understand and learn new programs more efficiently.

Design Principles
Students in Computer One will learn about design by means of "forms follows function." Problem-solving will be implemented in creating individual webpages with a site design. (How will all of the webpages work together?) Design concepts will include using graphics and animation to add interactivity to the web pages.

Programming Principles
By learning HTML, basic javascript and Flash actionscript students will learn what is involved with programming codes. By learning basic web programmig, students will be able to branch into other areas of non-web programming.
